Dining: local cuisine and full Scottish breakfast

Activities: day trips to popular islands

Pet-Friendly: dog-friendly rooms available

“The building's architecture and seafront location promise an Oban experience, even though recent flood damage and inconsistent upkeep are apparent. Staff friendliness and a plentiful breakfast service are pluses to consider. A thorough restoration could easily restore this hotel to its former grandeur, especially given the comfortable new beds.”

The Great Western Hotel is often praised for its convenient location, placing guests within walking distance of the main town and offering harbour views from the lounge and dining area. Many guests have found their rooms to be a good size with comfortable beds, and some rooms even include sea views and useful amenities like kettles and coffee makers. While some visitors have noted that the hotel's decor could use updating, the availability of a good breakfast buffet and the spaciousness of certain rooms with great sea views remain highlights for many.

attentive staff convenient location peeling wallpaper musty odour
the staff was attentive to our needs. i found the location to be quite convenient for exploring the area.
The room felt quite dated. The wallpaper was peeling, and there was a distinct musty odour. the bathroom had mould and the shower curtain needed replacement. i was expecting more based on the price.
